About Us
Established on 15 December 1986 with the initiative and financial support from UNESCO, the Asian Institute for Development Communication (Aidcom) is an independent non-profit organisation based in Malaysia.
The formation and establishment of Aidcom was in response to the need to develop a communication support system for effective management of sectorial development programme and to promote the role of communication and media with a view to strengthening the development process in a civil society.
The activities of Aidcom include conferences, seminars, forums, colloquiums, training workshops, research and publications in various aspects of development. Its focus also covers development of communication management skills and integration of communication support into development projects. Aidcom has managed to operate closely in many countries mainly in the Asia-Pacific region with national, regional and international media and development organisations.
